So in the last lesson we learned about nationalities. This is a plus lesson meaning, you’ll put to use what you learned, as well as learn the Chinese characters. Alright, let’s do this. Listen to this conversation. ○ 你是美国人吗？ ○ 我是美国人. Repeat the word for “country”. ○ 国 ○ 国 ○ 国 Try repeating the word for “America” (as in United States of America). ○ 美国 ○ 美国 ○ 美国 Now try repeating the word for “person”. ○ 人 ○ 人 ○ 人 Now try repeating “an American” (or “America person”), “Měiguo” plus “rén”. Notice that “guó” does not have its full tone here. ○ 美国人 ○ 美国人 ○ 美国人 Try saying “an American” and repeat after the speaker. ○ 美国人 Repeat the answer “I’m an American” in the exchange. 你是美国人吗？ ○ 我是美国人. Now answer “I’m an American” ahead of the second speaker. 你是美国人吗？ 我是美国人.
