Repeat “The red kind is cheaper”. ○ 红的便宜。 ○ 红的便宜。 You’ll notice that something is happening here. In the English we’re saying “cheaper”, but the Chinese word didn’t change. This is because adjectival verbs imply comparison when used alone, that is, when used without a modifier like “very”. How do you say “The red kind is cheaper”. 红的便宜。 Try saying: The blue kind is too expensive. I’ll buy the red kind, I guess.
