That’s Mr. Ketover to you! No, I’m just teasing. This is Mandarin Chinese at Lenguin.com and today we’re going to be talking about the titles Mr., Mrs. and Miss. Let’s take a look at the traditional titles Mr. Mrs. and Miss. Here’s the word for “Mr.”. Listen for “Mr.” (“Xiansheng”) in this exchange. In this example, the title follows the surname alone. It can also follow the full name. Listen. When you address someone in Chinese you usually use the surname and title. Listen to Miss hu address Mr. King as she asks her question. Mr. Wang, who is he? The title “Xiansheng” is also used by itself to mean “sir”. Listen. As in English the title “Mrs.” is sometimes used with the husband’s surname or full name. Here’s the word for Mrs. Now listen to Mr. King go through the whole cast of characters live. Wo shi Wáng Dànián. Ni shi Hú Meilíng Xiaojie. Ta shi Ma Xiansheng. Ta shi Ma Tàitai. Ta shi Ma Xiaojie.
