Listen to this exchange. ○ 你住多久？ ○ 我住一年。 Repeat “how long”. ○ 多久 ○ 多久 ○ 多久 The phrase “duó jiǔ” (“how long”) is similar to the phrase “duó dà” (“how old”) in which “duó” is a question word asking “how much”. Repeat “How long are you staying?” ○ 你住多久？ ○ 你住多久？ You’ll notice here that the verb “to stay” is the single verb “zhù”. What we’ve been refering to as the verb “zhù zai” (“to stay at”) is actually this verb “zhù” plus the verb “zài”. How do you …
